Quixote Expeditions

Location: Ushuaia

Discount for BAIN Members:  10%
Quixote Expeditions is an expeditionary sailing company that leads trips in the Southern Ocean. The vessels focus primarily on the Isla de los Estados (Staten Island), the Antarctic Peninsula, Beagle Channel (including Chilean Fjords and Darwin Mountain Range), and the Falkland Islands.

Our newest trip is to Isla de los Estados (Staten Island) at the Eastern Entrance to the Beagle Channel.  The best way to describe it is Jurassic Park meets Penguins meets history.  Its the location of Argentina’s only fjords.  The island steep sided fjords are covered in lush greenery and are home to 3 types of penguins, sea lions, whales, an old prison, Jules Verne’s “Light House at the End of the World”, and a small navy base of 4 people.  We bring kayaks and explore the island through hikes, kayaks, and zodiac rides.

In our Classic trip in the southern Ocean we spend 21 days exploring Antarctica  – more in depth than you will find on nearly any cruise ship.  The size of our vessel and limited number of passengers allows us to explore small coves, spend longer time in places, and have more freedom than a fixed itinerary allows.  We will see incredible wildlife – penguins, whales, seals, sea lions, and amazing amounts of sea birds.  We will also visit historic scientific bases and perhaps a few current ones as well.  All guests will leave with a true appreciation and sense of Antarctica.

Our trips are excellent for families, couples, and singles.  These trips are often very memorable well and well suited for children 8 and up as it’s highly hands on and experiential.  Everyone joins in the daily activities, helps with the lines, and views amazing wildlife.  In addition we hike, kayak, and at times try to catch king crab – it is a vacation for all to remember.

Child Activities

Kindermusik: www.kindermusik.com/
Location: Inside the Museo Evita, Palermo, Lafinur 2988
Kindermusik class is taught by independent teachers, so you need to be cautious with which classes you seek out, but Alcira is a great instructor (she speaks perfect English though the class is conducted in Spanish). The classes focus on music and dance for children 0-5 years old (separated by age). They offer sign up for monthly classes, one class per week, for AR$400 per month. There is a one time inscription fee that changes yearly, though you are able to attend a trail class before committing to the monthly fee. The classes run on a semester schedule.

Location: Instituto Cambridge, Recoleta, Tucumán 1483
There is also a Kindermusik location in Recoleta, taught within the Cambridge Institute.  The instructors speak English, though the class is taught in Spanish. The classroom is smaller, though clean and still quite nice, and the fees are around 50% of the Palermo location.
