BAIN Downtown members and guests are invited to the BAIN December social get-together.

BAIN will provide light appetizers, and members and guests can purchase drinks from the extensive bar menu.

Location: Argenta Towers Hotel (Vivaldi Restaurant), Juncal 868, Microcenter

Fees: BAIN Downtown members – no charge

Guests – 50 pesos*

*If you join BAIN Downtown at the meeting, your guest fee is waived. The fee to join BAIN for one year’s membership is 300 pesos.

The November book will be If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino.

For those with an amorous affair with books, If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler may well be the ultimate love letter to the reader. Calvino’s novel is a masterfully created, startlingly unique work of fiction. Told alternately in second- and third-person narratives, the book is a fascinating exploration of the relationship between the author and the reader – weaving together seemingly unrelated tales, all of which relate directly to you, the reader. At its core is an ingenious concept the likes of which could have only come from the unparalleled imagination of Calvino. By the time you reach its dazzling conclusion, you’ll be wishing you could somehow read it again for the very first time.

We will enjoy lunch at the 12th floor Danish Club in Retiro where we will have a choice of three different “platos del día” usually a fish dish, a chicken dish and a veal dish. This option includes the beverage and coffee but not dessert. If you order the small plate option you can add dessert for the same price (200 pesos). There is a more economical offering of just sandwiches at 100 pesos with no beverages.
The house wine is a certified organic product made by Santiago’s mother in Mendoza, she also has her own olive oil on display for a price of 125 pesos per liter. The wine is in the style of a Greek retsina – which means it will have an oxidized taste to it.
