BAIN Downtown members and their guests are invited to join in this month’s social get-together.  Given our great turnout for January, we will be returning to La Terrasse, in the lovely Plaza Hotel.

The event will start at 6 p.m.  BAIN will provide appetizers, and there will be an extensive cash bar menu offered.

Location:  La Terrasse, in the Plaza Hotel, Florida 1005 (Retiro, in the city center) across from Plaza San Martín.  La Terrasse is on the first floor, which happens to be up two floors from the lobby.  You can find it by going into the Fitness Center.  Should you need further assistance, the staff are very helpful.

Bi-monthly Meeting — ICANA — Graffitimundo Presents!

This month, graffitimundo, an art foundation that promotes the urban art scene of Buenos Aires, will give insight into the extraordinary stories behind the art; from its fiery political origins, to the modern context in which Buenos Aires has become one of the world’s most exciting cities for urban art. Graffitimundo works closely with some of the most talented and established urban artists in the city, runs tours, and workshops, and a gallery called UNION.

April Monthly Meeting — April 25, 2014

Join us at the Monthly Meeting at ICANA on Friday, April 25 at 5 p.m.

This meeting is your chance to learn a little something about folk music artists dear to the hearts of all Argentines — Atahualpa Yupanqui, Ariel Ramirez, Eduardo Falú, Jaime Torres, Mercedes Sosa.  You will hear songs by the greats, look at the lyrics in Spanish and in English.  Get to know folk groups  — Los Chalchaleros, Los Cantores de Quilla Huasi, Los Fronterizas, Los Cantores del Alba.  A special rendition of her favorites by Elizabeth Harris will be the final pluck to your heart strings.

The meeting starts at 5 pm at ICANA, Maipú 672, upstairs in the meeting room

Followed at about 7 pm by a social at Francesca, a cafe/bar in the Galerías Pacifíco, Florida 737.

BAIN DOWNTOWN MONTHLY MEETING – FEBRUARY 28

Join us at the Monthly Meeting at ICANA on Friday, February 28 at 4 p.m.

 This month’s meeting will center around a talk by Facundo Piperno, whose bio follows.  The topic will be “The Constant of Contrast in Argentine Literature.”  His talk promises to contain information and insights about Argentine literature that you haven’t heard before.

Facundo Piperno Franco is 38 years old.  He is a freelance writer, translator, editor and journalist.  He writes a column for Barzón and has collaborated on many Argentine and foreign media (Perfil, Panenka, Ñ magazine, The Guardian, Lateral, Chimera).  He coordinates the literary project La Cofradía, along with Gonzalo Garcés, Luis Mey, Martin Kasañetz and Francisco Zappia.  As a translator and editor Facundo has worked for RBA, El Aleph, Lince, CLASCO and FINN literary contest.
