Centro Naval is a magnificent building inaugurated on May 14 1914. Based on the French architecture of the Belle Epoque, it is decorated with paintings mounted in gilt-leaf frescos.
It is the central seat of a traditional civil association founded in 1882 by a group of young Marines to serve as a font of professional knowledge. At present the building is used for exhibitions, conferences, concerts, academic and social activities and tournaments from different disciplines. It also houses a library, a hotel, and a restaurant.
