The monthly Wine & Tapas get together is a chance for BAIN members and their guests — old hands and new — to come together to visit and catch up.

This month a special Wine & Tapas in Palermo Botanico.  Bring wine and savory finger food to share.  The hosts will prepare dessert.  The message is — bring savory, not sweet.

BAIN DOWNTOWN MONTHLY MEETING – FEBRUARY 28

Join us at the Monthly Meeting at ICANA on Friday, February 28 at 4 p.m.

 This month’s meeting will center around a talk by Facundo Piperno, whose bio follows.  The topic will be “The Constant of Contrast in Argentine Literature.”  His talk promises to contain information and insights about Argentine literature that you haven’t heard before.

Facundo Piperno Franco is 38 years old.  He is a freelance writer, translator, editor and journalist.  He writes a column for Barzón and has collaborated on many Argentine and foreign media (Perfil, Panenka, Ñ magazine, The Guardian, Lateral, Chimera).  He coordinates the literary project La Cofradía, along with Gonzalo Garcés, Luis Mey, Martin Kasañetz and Francisco Zappia.  As a translator and editor Facundo has worked for RBA, El Aleph, Lince, CLASCO and FINN literary contest.

Location:  ICANA, Maipú 672 (between Viamonte and Tucumán) in the City Center, on the ground floor in the library.

January Luncheon — January 30

Those of us who are still in the city have a treat coming. We dine this month at Club Danes. This unpretentious Danish restaurant on the edge of Retiro is on the 12th floor of the building that houses the Danish embassy. They took an alternate route to the lowered traffic and are open only for lunch! The view over the river is great.

The menu has four options and includes a beverage plus coffee or tea for 80 pesos. Dessert (a large selection) is an additional 28 pesos. A wide range of open-face sandwiches are about 40 pesos each.
