Walking Tour — Avenida Corrientes — Saturday, October 7 at 10:30 am
Corrientes Avenue — The early 20th century’s modernity in the veins of Buenos Aires
Corrientes Avenue has become one of the most important streets of Buenos Aires, a place where culture, shows, history and libraries meet to make this street a reference point of Porteño spirit.
We would like you to join us in this new walking tour in the city. This time we will stroll down a part of Avenida Corrientes, spotting the important buildings and putting them in the context of the early 20th century. We will also describe relationships between past tours, pointing out similarities or differences between neighborhoods.
Date: Saturday, October 7
Starting at: 10:30 a.m. (please be on time!)
Total time: approximately 2 hours
Meeting point: Corner of Corrientes Avenue and Bouchard Street
Finishing point: Intersection of Corrientes Avenue and Carlos Pellegrini Avenue
Cost: 250 pesos for BAIN members – 300 pesos for non-BAIN members

Parque Chas and Agronomía neighborhoods, the new “barrios” in the early 20th century
We would like you to join us on a walking tour in the city. This time we will head west of Buenos Aires to walk through the labyrinthine streets of Parque Chas and visit the Park Agronomía.
The tour: We will walk through the streets of Parque Chas, and learn about its origin and how it fits into the city of Buenos Aires. We will see the centre of a neighbourhood and neighbourhood identity.
-Beliefs of the People: La Virgen Desatanudos.
-The Park of Agronomía in the context of the parks of Buenos Aires. >The working class housing: from inexpensive houses to a balm of calmness in a hectic city.
-The University of Buenos Aires (UBA)
=Pachamama: the month of Mother Earth.
We will finish the tour with a visit to the botanical garden of the UBA and a sensorial experience that will connect our senses to Mother Earth in a new way by being a part of the park. Don´t miss it!

The event will start at 6 p.m. BAIN will provide light appetizers, and members and guests can purchase drinks from the extensive bar menu.

Parque Lezama: Uncovering the myths of the foundation of Buenos Aires

Many cities have myths of their foundation; Buenos Aires has its own. We will walk parts of Parque Lezama, going back in time to learn about the moments of the foundation of Buenos Aires, and how these became part of the construction of a possible Argentine national identity. We will also visit some selected elements of the National Historic Museum, connecting the park, the museum and Argentine identity.
Cost: BAIN Downtown member: 250 pesos
Non-BAIN Downtown member: 300 pesos
Date: Sunday, July 30
Time: 14:30hs
Meeting Point: At the intersection of Defensa and Brasil streets, near Parque Lezama.
Finishing Point: Same as starting point.
