Shen Yun Comes to Buenos Aires

New York based SHEN YUN, the premier Chinese classical dance company in the world, will be starting their brand new 2013 tour in Buenos Aires! Shen Yun´s mission is to revive 5000 years of traditional Chinese culture. You will experience the dress and customs of different dynasties, legends unfolding, deities descending from heaven, and moving stories of present-day courage.

Tickets are already on sale for the December 13, 14 and 14 shows at the Opera Citi Theatre through Ticketek Argentina. Another five shows (Dec. 17-21) will be opened in the coming days.At BAIN Downtown’s Social Meeting on Friday, November 30th, you will have the chance to win 2 tickets to the Opening Night of Shen Yun. December Morning Coffee: Cookie Exchange!

Just in time for the holidays!

The December BAIN Coffee will feature a holiday cookie exchange! If you would like to have an assortment of HOMEMADE baked goodies for your place for the holidays (if you can resist eating them all before then!), please join us for this event. If you’ve never been to a cookie exchange, the rules are simple:

1) Bring 2-3 dozen HOMEMADE cookies to the event (yes, that means you have to bake, not buy!),

2) Bring the recipe for your cookies to share with the rest of the group,

3) Those who bring cookies will be able to leave with an assortment of other people’s goodies

4) Enjoy!

The Morning Coffee/Cookie Exchange will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at 10:30am in Recoleta (address provided upon RSVP). If you are planning to join in the fun of the Cookie Exchange, please bring an extra dozen or so for sampling at the table while having your coffee. BAIN Downtown members are invited to join in this month’s Strictly Social meeting. We will enjoy food, drinks and great company at Tucson, a café located in the Terrazas Buenos Aires Design Center. Our start time is 4 p.m., and there is a 2 for 1 happy hour menu available.

Join Us at the BAIN Book Exchange December Holiday Party

This bi-monthly event is a chance to meet new people, engage in interesting conversation, and discover new reading material, all in a warm & friendly atmosphere.

Please join us by bring 1 or 2 really interesting books to lend or give away in exchange for someone else’s great book. You don’t necessarily have to part with your book, you can loan it to another BAIN member who will be held accountable to return it. We want our book exchange to offer participants an opportunity to access high quality reading material in English, which can be hard to find and expensive to buy in BA, so please bring the book you would like your best friend to read.

November Monthly Dinner

This month’s BAIN dinner will be held on Monday, November 19 at “La Gauchita.”

Time: Monday, November 19 (start time: 8:30 p.m. by the bar at the very back of the restaurant; dinner 9 or 9:15 p.m.)

Location: Lafinur 3275 (between Cerviño and Segui) in Palermo Botanico.

La Gauchita is a good parrilla with an excellent salad bar. It has a very nice private dining area with attached bar that we will use. Please come at 8:30 p.m. for a glass of wine; dinner will be at 9 p.m. or so. The first course is a “build your own salad” so the event should not last past 11 p.m., for those with babysitting or early morning work issues.

Cost: 125 pesos per person, inclusive of a three course meal, a glass of wine, one gaseosa or water, service/table charge and tip.

Tentative Menu:
First course: all you can heap on one plate salad bar (typically including appetizers, greens, various vegetables, beans, and other goodies).

Second course:

Being worked out (event organizer Jim Isaacs arrived from the US yesterday). But there will be beef, chicken or fish and vegetarian options, with the option to switch to various items that used to be part of a cow or pig.
