Need to know more…

What is a Pub Quiz?

For those of you who are not familiar with the concept, here is a little guide to help understand what is going on.

The First Rule of Pub Quiz

The First Rule of Pub Quiz

What is a Pub Quiz?

It’s a general knowledge quiz held in a pub, bar or café. The attendees form teams and one person (the Quizmaster) asks the questions split into rounds. At the end of each round the questions are marked and a score is given to each team. After all the questions have been asked the team with the most points wins. In the case of a draw a tiebreaker question is used. The winning team usually wins alcohol.

What sort of questions are there?

General Knowledge can cover everything from history to music to geography to sport to everything in between. They are designed to be not too difficult, but hard enough to generate debate! You can see the questions from previous Cigale Pub Quizzes here.

Are there any rules?

Not really, the idea is to have fun. Teams of up to 6 people are allowed and it’s a good idea not to shout the answer out too loud if you know it – you don’t want to help out the opposition! In a dispute, the Quizmaster’s decision is final!

When is the next quiz?

The date of the next quiz will be posted on this site as soon as it is confirmed. At the moment it is always on a Monday evening in La Cigale. You can also use thelatest tag to see the next date.

I’m organising my own Pub Quiz – can you help?

Of course – you can use the questions posted on this site for your own quiz – they are freely available. If you need anything else, drop me a line.

Restaurant Review – La Fabrica del Taco

Gorritti 5062 | Palermo Soho

Looking for Mexican Food in Buenos Aires?

Everyone knows that I absolutely LOVE Mexican food, but the choices here are limited. Most Argentines do not like spice. They even think pepper is spicy! There are only a handful of Mexican restaurants here. Maria Felix is the WORST and it’s expensive. Xalapa is pretty good, but only certain dishes are delicious. Their beans and burritos are bland and boring. There is a smaller place called La Fabrica del Taco which has amazing food and is pretty reasonably priced. The drinks are good and they have more to offer than just a regular frozen margarita like most restaurants here. The inside of the place is decorated with Mexican wrestling masks which always reminds me of the movie Nacho Libre. They have televisions that play Mexican music videos from the 80s and 90s and it is absolutely hysterical. I guess it can be considered a dive, but the food is pricier than that. They have REAL hot sauce and the tacos are unbelievable. We go once every few weeks to get our Mexican fix in BA. Here are some pictures of the restaurant:

La Fabrica del Taco has a limited delivery area or take out service where you can order online or by calling in. They offer a 2 for 1 Happy Hour Tuesday – Sunday and are closed on Mondays.
