Walking Tour of the Barracas Neighborhood — Saturday, May 12 at 10 am

When the South became industrial

Continuing our tours of neighborhoods of Buenos Aires we will reach the very southern limits of the city by visiting Barracas. The area was once an industrial one, populated by immigrants and then nearly forgotten in the 90´s. During the last years, a process of gentrification is giving some parts of the “barrio” a new cultural movement.

We will see the biggest mural in Argentina, among others. We will also walk Pasaje Lanín and learn the stories that marked the lives of the families that lived in the neighborhood.

Meet the artist:  We will also have access to Marino Santa María´s art studio.  He decorated Pasaje Lanín and we will meet up with him!

Tour of Montserrat – Walk 1 — Avenida de Mayo – February 18 at 11 am

Monserrat and San Telmo are the most historical neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. Yet Monserrat is less well-known and is often confused with San Telmo, even though it is the location of the most important buildings in the city – buildings where many national and local decisions are made.

Montserrat may be small but it has a lot of history in its streets and venues.  For this reason, we have decided to visit it twice, on two different walks.

Please join us for this first tour of the year.  Walk with us along Montserrat´s most important avenue: Avenida de Mayo. We will also talk about Plaza de Mayo and Plaza del Congreso.  In addition, we will visit the Casa de la Cultura Building (formerly the Diario La Prensa).
